When the kidneys fail to filter out waste products; when these waste products are not properly excreted through urine; when they fail to balance salt and water in proper manner; when they are not able to control B.P., we can come to the conclusion that the kidneys are not properly functioning. And this is called kidney failure. Kidney failure is of two kinds: 1) Acute kidney failure (that which springs up suddenly) 2) Chronic kidney failure (that has been there for a long time). If you can trace out the root cause of chronic failure, and treat properly, the kidneys can come back to the normal state. In chronic kidney failure, they would have been damaged to a stage from which there is no coming back.
